Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 overripe bananas, mashed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup melted butter or neutral oil
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet, milk, or dark)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, mash bananas until mostly smooth.
  2. Add eggs, melted butter or oil, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. Whisk until fully combined.
  3. Add flour, baking soda, and salt. Gently fold until just combined—do not overmix.
  4. Fold in chocolate chips, saving a few to sprinkle on top if desired.
  5. Pour batter into a greased 9×5-inch loaf pan. Smooth top and add extra chips.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 55–65 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out with moist crumbs.
  7. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool fully before slicing.

Notes

Use very ripe bananas for best flavor and moisture. Don’t overmix the batter to maintain a tender crumb.
