Easy Chocolate Chip Banana Bread is the ultimate one-bowl comfort bake that combines overripe bananas with gooey chocolate chips. Moist, tender, and bakery-worthy—this foolproof loaf is perfect for breakfast, dessert, or anytime snacking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium overripe bananas (about 1 ½ cups mashed)
  • ½ cup melted butter or vegetable oil
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ to 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet, dark, or mini)
  • 1 teaspoon flour (for coating chips)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mash bananas in a large bowl until mostly smooth with some small chunks remaining.
  3. Add melted butter or oil, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gently fold dry ingredients into the wet banana mixture until just combined.
  6. Toss chocolate chips with 1 teaspoon of flour, then fold into the batter.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top. Sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top if desired.
  8. Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Use very ripe bananas with brown or black skins for best flavor and moisture. Avoid overmixing the batter. For dairy-free or vegan options, substitute plant-based ingredients and flax eggs.
