Moist, sweet banana bread filled with melty chocolate chips—this comforting classic is perfect for sharing or savoring solo.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 overripe bananas (mashed, about 1 cup)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs (room temp)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×5 inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mash bananas until mostly smooth. Whisk in melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Fold dry ingredients into wet until just combined.
  4. Toss chocolate chips with a little flour, then fold into the batter.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan and sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top.
  6. Bake for 55–65 minutes. Check doneness with a toothpick—should come out clean or with melted chocolate but no wet batter.
  7. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

Do not overmix the batter—this keeps your loaf soft and tender. Let cool fully for best slicing and flavor.
