Moist, fluffy banana bread chocolate chip muffins with gooey chocolate chips — the perfect cozy treat for any time of day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 overripe bananas, mashed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup melted butter or oil
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet, milk, or dark)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners or grease well.
  2. In a large bowl, mash bananas until smooth.
  3. Whisk in eggs, brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla, and yogurt until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. Gently fold dry ingredients into wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips.
  7. Divide batter into muffin cups, filling each about 3/4 full.
  8. Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  9. Cool in pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

Use overripe bananas for best flavor and texture. Avoid overmixing the batter to keep muffins light and fluffy.
